Mayfield Park and Preserve

Relaxing quickly seems like an oxymoron, but Mayfield Park and Preserve is one of those places I love to go when I just need a non-planned, easy to get to, quick retreat. It’s peaceful, beautiful and full of peacocks. Now, I know people who have peacocks running around in their front yards in San Antonio. For them, these colorful birds may not be as much of an attraction as a reminder of that pesky animal that blocks their driveway early in the mornings making them late for work, but Mayfield Park and Preserve has much more to offer than those big blue feathers. The park also includes various garden areas, a pond, hiking trails and a historic cottage that can be rented out for parties. The preserve stretches out for 21 acres surrounding the park and presents a great opportunity to do some exploring!

Take 35th street west of Mopac until it curves to the left (and becomes Old Bull Creek Rd). The park entrance is on the left. Pay attention because it’s easy to miss! Open daily from 5AM – 10PM.
